The international COllaborative Research Initiative on Chronic subdural hematoma (iCORIC) aims to reach consensus on a core outcome set, a standardized CSDH definition and data elements to be used in future CSDH studies.
The DSHR collaborates with iCORIC.
Prospective CSDH-REGISTRY
This Registry is a multicenter, prospective cohort study observing CSDH patients to assess their characteristics, treatment, and outcome. It aims to develop a predictive model for personalized treatment selection.
TORCH-trial: Tranexamic Acid to Prevent OpeRation in Chronic Subdural Hematoma.
A double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter, randomized clinical trial. It aims to evaluate the efficacy of TXA to prevent surgery for CSDH in patients diagnosed with CSDH for which a conservative treatment is selected as primary treatment strategy.
ELIMINATE-trial: Embolization of middle meningeal artery in chronic subdural hematoma.
A multicenter, randomized controlled open-label superiority trial. Aim is to evaluate whether additional embolization of the middle meningeal artery after surgery for CSDH reduces the recurrent surgery rate.
DECSA-trial: DExamethasone therapy in symptomatic patients with Chronic Subdural hematomA.
A prospective, multicenter, randomized controlled trial which aimed to evaluate the effect of initial dexamethasone therapy versus primary surgery on functional outcome and cost-effectiveness, in symptomatic patients with chronic subdural hematoma.
